St John's Hospice supporter Peter Horn and his good friend Jeff Tipping rode to victory recently as they successfully completed a sponsored cycle ride from Liverpool to York along the Transpennine Trail.
The cycle ride was in memory of Peter's late wife Jackie Horn who sadly passed away recently. The ambitious pair left Liverpool on Saturday morning full of excitement and readiness, hoping that all the hard work would pay off.
The first day started well, meandering through peaceful Cheshire Villages, and along River/Canal paths. Good progress was being made until Peter and Jeff reached the other side of Stockport, where they got lost. They circled a large country park a number of times, and eventually found their way out.

Both thought they would never find the trail again, as darkness was descending by now. They eventually saw the welcoming signs for GLOSSOP, and found their overnight accommodation, once there, a little networking brought in some money, and a restful night was spent, both felt relieved to have arrived safely.
Peter and Jeff woke up the next morning feeling ready for another day. A few tears were shed as it was 5 months to the day that Jackie passed away. This made the pair even more determined to succeed.
The journey was between 175-200 miles and took 3 days to complete.
With the help and support of family and friends Peter has managed to raise an amazing £2,500 for St Johns Hospice which was the charity of Jackie's choice.
